The British Military Tournament takes place at Earls Court on the 8th/9th December with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge confirming their attendance, it looks like this stunning performance is a must see this winter.
The British Military Tournament, supported by The Boeing Company, next week on 8/9 December. The Tournament returns with a spectacular new show for the third year. The show brings together all of the best elements of the world-famous Royal Tournament into a new show for the 21st Century. It will raise much-needed funds for three armed forces charities; ABF The Soldier’s Charity in association with The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend the Tournament on Sunday 9 December whilst HRH Prince Michael of Kent, HRH Duke of Gloucester and HRH Duke of Kent are also confirmed to attend over the weekend.
The Tournament’s two hour show, narrated live by Anthony Andrews, will tell the story of Her Majesty The Queen. The dazzling arena production will feature re-enactments, death-defying stunts, legendary military ceremonial set pieces, storytelling, music and state-of-the-art audiovisual. It will be performed by over 700 troops from the UK Armed Forces in addition to 150 horses, and includes the Field Gun Run, horses vs machines: horses of the Household Cavalry race motorcycles of the Royal Signals’ White Helmets for the first time since 1926, the year of the queen’s birth, the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, the gymnasts of the Royal Navy performing their celebrated Window Ladder display and massed bands.
Major General Martin Rutledge, Chief Executive of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, said: “We’re hugely excited about this year’s British Military Tournament. It really is a wonderful day out for the whole family that’s both dramatic and unforgettable. It’s our biggest fundraising event and brings together the three national service charities, supporting every generation of our military family.”
A British Army Apache helicopter will be displayed and will sit at the heart of the extensive military-themed exhibition area within Earls Court. Free to all ticket holders the exhibition provides fun for all the family with doors open two hours prior to performance each day to allow visitors the chance to enjoy everything that is on offer. There are areas dedicated to each of the three Armed Forces charities benefiting from the Tournament plus a huge variety of other exhibitors confirmed. The exhibition also provides the opportunity to meet members of the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force and to have hands on experience of some of the latest military kit. An assault course and shopping area with a mix of retail and charity stands ensures this is a fun packed day extending the Tournament experience.
